Operating the HomeServer: Designs
To meet the future requirements of the control units, a new concept has been developed in this Version 2 of the HomeServer 2.
Design concept:
In practice, it is normal that the user uses various control units simultaneously in his object:
PDA, WebPad, TV, Touchscreen, Handy, PC, etc.
These devices have different levels of performance.
In the HomeServer Expert, it is now possible to create a profile - a design - for each device.
Several designs are contained in the delivery.
The following features are stored in a design:
Design for the user interface
Screen surface
Number of control lines in the menu display
Full frame visualization
Suitable collection of Visu symbols
html-enabled (yes/no)
WAP-enabled
Timeout time
Automatic refresh for lists, Visu, camera side, screens and diagrams
Camera picture as a stream (yes/no)
Fonts
Local storage of graphics files (yes/no)
User interfaces
Currently, there are 3 ways of operating the HomeServer:
Internet browser with html 4, CSS and Javascript
Client program (hsclient.exe); this is made available for free for Windows(R) 98 to Windows XP, and
WAP browser for WAP 1.1
Structural differences between the menu display and the visualization
The menu display and the visualization have different basic designs.
The hierarchical structure of the menu can be used on several designs simultaneously.
There is no hierarchical construction in the visualization.
Any Visu page can be called up from any other Visu page.
However, the Visu must thereby be constructed for each design separately.
If there are different screen resolutions, then only this procedure is possible.
Documentation for "own design"
Experienced users can make their own designs. A documentation on this topic will be published.
